Reunions Weekend at Sigma Phi Place

163 Rugby Road played host to dozens of jolly Sig alumni on June 7, for the University’s annual Reunion Weekend festivities. Several dozen brothers, significant others, and other notable guests enjoyed reminiscing and refreshments on the Platinum Porch, well past the official hours appointed by the University for Greek Reunion events. In addition, the House was truly brought to life by the half dozen brothers who arranged to stay in their undergraduate rooms throughout the weekend. These brothers, with the lively participation of both returning and local alumni, brought the Old Phi back to Charlottesville for the weekend.

It is especially noteworthy that Serp had the most lively and visible celebration of any house on Grounds. A few unfortunate alumni from our neighboring houses had no events planned for them, and one such alumnus even had to scale a ladder to allow himself and his compatriots access to their house. Eventually alumni from those houses graciously accepted the hospitality of the Thrice Illustrious.

Special thanks are due to Andrew Skotdal S’90 for his assistance in both planning and underwriting this year’s Reunion events.

The 2013 Reunion Weekend marked the return of classes graduating years ending in a 3 or an 8. Next year’s Reunion will host the gathering of those years ending in a 4 or a 9. BUT ALL SIGS AND THEIR GUESTS ARE WELCOME! Make sure you plan on being in attendance if those years include you! If you’d like to assist in organizing your Reunion event, or would like to stay in the house during your Reunion, please contact the Alumni Board at alumni@sigmaphiuva.org.
